Sound Familiar?

Getting Into EMS Should Not Be This Confusing

You want to run calls, move up a level, or teach the next class. The rules between you and that goal are real, and nobody explains them in one place.

The Logistical Problem

Licensure Is a Maze of Rules

A course, clinical hours, skills verification, the NREMT cognitive exam, a background check and a state license application. Each step has its own rules, and one missing piece stalls everything.

The Emotional Problem

Will I Be Ready When It Is Real?

Passing a written test is one thing. Kneeling next to a patient who is not breathing is another. Most students wonder whether their course actually prepared them for that moment.

The Deeper Problem

Every Community Needs a Crew

Somebody has to answer the next call. The people willing to do it deserve training that builds real competence and confidence, not just a passing score.

The Stakes Are Real

The Cost of Going It Alone

Without Code Blue Training

Stalled at the Exam

Three failed NREMT attempts means remedial hours before you can test again, or a full new course for EMRs.

Rusty on Skills Day

EMR and EMT candidates still face a state-approved skills exam. Showing up unprepared costs time and fees.

Paperwork Gaps

A missing clinical signature or an expired CPR card can hold up your state license application.

Stuck at One Level

Good providers plateau when nobody shows them the next step toward AEMT or the classroom.

With Code Blue Training

A Clear Path to Your License

We walk you through each step: the course, skills verification, NREMT certification and your state license application.

Skills You Can Trust

Hands-on labs and simulation practice until the skills are automatic, not memorized the night before the exam.

A Plan If an Attempt Fails

Remediation courses sized to the hours NREMT requires for your level. Ask us which approval each one carries before you enroll.

Room to Grow

Move from EMR to EMT to AEMT. Utah providers can also prepare for the Bureau instructor and course coordinator endorsements.

Questions

EMS Course Questions, Answered

NREMT issues national certification when you pass its exam. Your state issues the license that gives you the legal authority to practice. Utah requires current NREMT certification for an initial license, for renewal and for reciprocity under Utah rule R911-5. Other states set their own rules, so check with your state EMS office.

Utah licenses EMRs at 16 and EMTs and AEMTs at 18, and asks for CPR training from the past two years and a fingerprint background check when you apply. AEMT students must keep a current Utah EMT license or higher from the day they enroll until their AEMT license is granted. Each course listing shows its own prerequisites.

EMT, AEMT and Paramedic candidates get six attempts, with a 15-day wait between them. After a third failed attempt, NREMT requires remedial education before attempt four, and any one of three options counts: the national component hours for your level (20 for EMT, 25 for AEMT and 30 for Paramedic), a state-approved or CAPCE-accredited refresher at your level, or the same hours from any state-approved education program. Some states accept only a traditional refresher, so confirm which option your state accepts before you enroll, and ask us which approval a remediation course carries. EMR candidates get three attempts and then must repeat the full course. Remediation does not extend the two-year window from your course completion.

It depends on your level and your certification. Utah licenses out-of-state providers who hold current NREMT certification at their level, CPR training from the past two years and a background clearance. AEMT and Paramedic applicants also need a pediatric course, and paramedics need ACLS. If you are not NREMT certified, you complete the NREMT exam process, which for EMR and EMT includes a state-approved skills exam. NREMT stopped the separate AEMT and Paramedic psychomotor exam after June 30, 2024. Your state EMS office sets the skills exam rules, so confirm it accepts a session before you book.

Our Paramedic program is planned but not enrolling yet, and no start date is set. To sit the NREMT Paramedic exam, candidates must graduate from a CAAHEP-accredited program or one holding a CoAEMSP Letter of Review. We will share the program's status here when it opens. Request a date to hear first.

Licensed Utah EMS providers who want to teach or coordinate courses. The Utah Bureau of Emergency Medical Services issues the EMS Instructor and Course Coordinator endorsements after its own course. Instructor candidates need at least two years of Utah licensure, a year of work as a licensed provider with a licensed or designated agency or an emergency care facility, 15 documented teaching hours, 25 patient contacts in the past year and an agency letter of recommendation. Course coordinators need a current instructor endorsement, at least 30 hours of EMS instruction in the past year, and service as co-coordinator of record on a class run by a current Course Coordinator, with that coordinator's written evaluation and recommendation. We help you prepare for the Bureau course and build the documented teaching experience it asks for. This pathway is offered in Utah only.

Open a course, pick a session and select Reserve Seat. We hold your seat and email you the details. Contact us before the hold ends to pay by card over the phone or an agency purchase order. If no date works for you, request one.

Cancellation and reschedule terms depend on the course and are shown before you reserve. Contact us as early as you can and we will help you move to another date when seats are open.
