Overview

A half-day session where our EMS instructors run you through the EMR or EMT psychomotor skills: patient assessment, bleeding control and shock, airway and ventilation, cardiac arrest and AED, spinal and splinting skills. It is for providers moving between states and for students who finished a course elsewhere. NREMT still requires a state-approved skills exam for EMR and EMT, and each state EMS office sets how that exam is given; in Utah the course coordinator schedules the NREMT practical as part of an approved course. NREMT gave its last AEMT and Paramedic psychomotor exams on June 30, 2024, so this session covers EMR and EMT only. Confirm with your state EMS office that it accepts this session for your situation before you book.

What You Will Learn

  • Perform a timed trauma and medical patient assessment
  • Ventilate an apneic patient with a BVM and oxygen
  • Manage cardiac arrest with high-quality CPR and an AED
  • Control bleeding and manage shock
  • Apply spinal motion restriction and splints
