Questions About This Course

Four years for most NAEMT provider courses, including PHTLS, AMLS, EPC, TECC, GEMS and EVOS. TCCC cards are valid for three years. Completing an NAEMT course also comes with a complimentary one-year NAEMT membership.

Most do, for EMS practitioners. NAEMT awards CAPCE-accredited CE equal to the course hours, and NREMT recognizes it for recertification. PHTLS-FR and TECC-LEO award CE to EMS-licensed participants only, the CP series awards CE per module, and FOTS carries none. Each course page shows its hours.

Partly. PHTLS, AMLS and EPC offer a hybrid option: 8 hours of lecture online at your own pace, then 8 hours in class for skills and scenarios. Our other NAEMT courses run in person. EMS Safety Officer is an online course sold by NAEMT's publisher.

The provider course is the full class, usually 16 hours over two days. The refresher, usually 8 hours, renews your card for another four years. It requires a provider course completed within the past four years. PHTLS also accepts an equivalent such as ITLS, EPC accepts PEPP, and TECC accepts an equivalent tactical EMS course. Outside that window, you take the full provider course again.

TCCC is the Department of Defense curriculum for service members. TECC applies the same principles to civilian high-threat scenes for EMS clinicians, and TECC-LEO is built for officers and other non-EMS responders. NAEMT also notes that TECC can help prepare for the IBSC TP-C and TR-C exams. Tell us about your team and we will match the course.
