Overview

Initial review for responders who serve, or may serve, as their agency Designated Infection Control Officer. We work the DICO-C content outline: infection control management, disease transmission, vaccines and immunizations, exposure control plans, post-exposure evaluation and follow-up, and the laws that govern the role, including the Ryan White notification provisions. IBSC administers the DICO-C with NAPSICO. The exam is 125 items (100 scored) in 2.5 hours, and the certification is valid for three years. The IBSC exam fee is not included. Our IBSC Approved Review Course application is pending, so this course is exam preparation only.

Questions About This Course

No. You apply for the DICO-C exam and pay IBSC directly. IBSC lists the fee at $300 for NAPSICO members and $400 for non-members on its 2026 fee schedule. IBSC sets eligibility and testing options, and we do not administer or score IBSC exams.

Do not count on it. IBSC recertifies DICO-C every three years by retest or by 18 continuing education credits directly related to infection control and management. This course is exam review, our IBSC Approved Review Course application is pending, and we have not confirmed CE approval for it. Check with IBSC before counting any of our hours toward recertification.
